Kylie Stillman

I found this Artist at the Korean international art fair (KIAF). She is Australian and does beautiful things with paper and birds! (My two favourite things!)

By cutting into layers of paper she creates a really nice effect as she works hard to maintain the right angles and curves. Such a great idea! Seeing her work in the flesh made it even more impressive as the books and pads have this really delicate quality to them as! Some were mounted in ornate frames which just added to the feel of that her pieces were really precious.

Robert Breer

Really amazing stop frame animation! Really nice fluid movement and nice narrative!

Emily Forstreuter

Decode @the V+A

Would Love to pop down to London and see this over Christmas!

Always good to see some digital artwork not just for commercial use!

Gorgeous colours and gorgeous movement!

"One of the most significant developments within digital design is the concept of ‘open source’. Designers publish their codes on the internet, creating libraries of creativity free for others designers to borrow, develop or pass on within the design community and beyond." Taken from the Decode page on the V+A site

Cat Lee Marr

I found Cat Lee Marr on the Axis website (online resource for contemporary art). She has been cselected as one of the featured MAstars. I was drawn to her work becasue she had used birds in flight and I keep finding myself interested in birds at the moment! And bonus points her "Bravura" piece is using Arduino to track the movement of birds in nature and to make a series of sounds!

Beautiful results.

Arduino intro

Yesterday I had my first look at the Arduino we are learning in our Process and Production module. It is using similar code that we use in Creative code that we began to learn in our first year. To get an idea of th possibilities of using the Arduino board I looked at the above website and it gave me a really good idea of what can be achieved with the boards and coding.

For next lesson we have to come with concept that we would like to achieve using the Arduino software, so until then I will keep browsing round at all the possibilities.

Return

After studying for 3months in Seoul, South Korea, this blog will explore my return to the UK and picking up the 2nd year of my Multimedia design course at the University of Huddersfield.

Looking at our briefs, my influences and inspiration, I am excited to begin this new term with a new blog! Even if a little later then my classmates!!
